Partner Family Informational Meetings

February 9, 2015 – Muncie, IN – Greater Muncie Habitat for Humanity will hold informational meetings for individuals and families interested in home ownership through Habitat for Humanity. The meetings will take place on the second Monday of each month at 5:30pm at the Habitat for Humanity office, located at 1923 S. Hoyt Avenue in Muncie. Applications for the program will be available at the meetings.

Anchored by the conviction that housing provides a critical foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty, Muncie Habitat has helped more than 115 families construct, rehabilitate or preserve homes in Delaware County since 1986. For many years, Habitat for Humanity was known as a builder of new homes, where construction of new homes was the only mechanism for serving families with improved housing. That model has expanded over the last several years to include house rehabilitations and home repair/preservation projects. With nearly 5,000 vacant homes in Muncie, they have shifted their efforts toward primarily rehabilitating existing homes to serve the families that they partner with on the journey toward homeownership.

In 2015, Muncie Habitat plans to serve local families with homeownership projects and home repairs. At this time, potential homeowners are being sought for homes to be rehabilitated at 702 N. Walnut St., 200 W. Memorial Dr. and 2215 S. Grant St.

Muncie Habitat is seeking applicants who are ready to begin their journey towards home ownership. This journey includes an application process, equity hours, education classes, and hopefully ends with a home dedication and closing. Those attending will receive information on the eligibility and income guidelines and will also learn more about the selection process, which is determined by the Family Selection Committee.
