The Attainable Homeownership Tax Credit (or AHTC) is an incredible program designed to incentivize giving to nonprofits that provide affordable homeownership for Hoosiers in need. The state legislature’s hope, and ours, is to increase the number of homes we can build state-wide with this special tax incentive.
The Attainable Homeownership Tax Credit program is now available for donors supporting Greater Muncie Habitat for Humanity. With this program, you can donate to Habitat for Humanity and receive half of that amount in an Indiana State tax credit that directly lowers your state tax liability.
Any individuals, couples, businesses, and corporations who pay Indiana state taxes can deduct 50% of their contributions to HFH from their Indiana state tax liability. The maximum contribution for the tax credit is $20,000 (providing a $10,000 tax credit). These credits will be given on a first come, first serve basis, and will go fast! As you consider this transformative gift, remember this is an opportunity to give more to our local work – while reducing the amount of money you need to pay in state taxes.

Who
Tax credits are available for any qualified individual taxpayer, small business or corporation in Indiana that makes a donation to habitat for Humanity of Indiana.
What
Tax credits may be used to offset individual income taxes or business taxes in the tax year the donation is made beginning in 2024. Eligible donations may be cash, land of stock.
How
The tax credit is equal to 50% of the donation made to Habitat. For example, a gift of $1000 qualifies you for a $500 tax credit on your IN state income tax return. There is a crap of $10,000 in tax credits allowed per tax year, but unused credits may be carried over for up to 5 years.
Where
Donations must be made to Habitat for Humanity of Indiana to process tax credits. All donations will be distributed to your local affiliate, be sure to indicate the name or county of your local affiliate on your tax credit form.
