Greater Muncie Habitat for Humanity Announces Leadership Transition

Muncie, Indiana — Greater Muncie Habitat for Humanity today announced that Lindsey Arthur, Chief Executive Officer, has resigned from her position.

In a letter received by the Board Chair, Daren Hofmann, Arthur stated, “It has been a beautiful experience to witness the community coming together from all walks of life to build homes and neighborhoods.” Arthur continued that this work has been “one of the greatest joys of my life” and thanked the Board of Directors for allowing her to do so over the last 23 years.

The Board has appointed Kristin Freehill as Interim Chief Executive Officer. Freehill has previously served as the organization’s Director of Community Engagement and brings strong institutional knowledge, leadership experience, and a deep commitment to Habitat’s mission. She will provide steady leadership as the Board conducts a search for permanent leadership.

The Board expresses its sincere appreciation to Arthur for her service and contributions to the organization. During Arthur’s tenure, she advanced key initiatives like the establishment of the Habitat ReStore, launched the 8twelve Coalition, now a separate entity, and oversaw the development and relocation of a new headquarters and administrative offices.

The Board is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining the organization’s strong operations, financial stewardship, and service to the community.

For 40 years, Muncie Habitat has stood in defiance against the cycle of poverty and insisted that decent housing matters for everyone.

The organization hosted its 23rd annual Dream Builders Society Breakfast Tuesday, April 21 at the Horizon Convention Center. The event raised nearly $200,000 in gifts and pledges.

“I am proud that so many have so much trust in our work at Muncie Habitat,” said Freehill. “As we finish our three-year Strategic Planning process with a focus on continuing to build in Muncie’s Industry neighborhood, these funds will help make the dreams of homeownership come true for many families.”
