Construction (Individuals)
We’re excited to welcome enthusiastic individuals ready to make a difference with us at Habitat for Humanity! We welcome individual volunteers to join us on our construction site Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
You can work alongside our regular volunteer crew on Tuesdays and Thursdays, or join one of our weekend volunteer groups on Fridays and Saturdays. Fridays and Saturdays are typically reserved by groups and teams, but we almost always have room for an individual volunteer to join us!
Construction (Groups)
We welcome groups to join us on the construction site every Friday and Saturday throughout the year. No tools, prior experience, or special skills are required—just a willingness to help make a difference!
Whether you’re looking for a team-building opportunity for your staff, a meaningful service project for your church group, or a rewarding activity for your athletic team or fraternity, we’d love to have you with us. Our construction projects run year-round, and we’re always excited to work with new groups.
We require a minimum of 5 volunteers for a group volunteer opportunity, and we can typically accommodate 10 total volunteers on your build day.
No! While many of our volunteer teams are a group of friends, coworkers, or church members, we welcome individual volunteers! We will find a great opportunity for you to participate in and meet some new friends
Fridays and Saturdays January through December. We begin at 9a.m. and wrap up 2:30p.m. with a break for lunch around noon.
No! All we ask is a willingness to learn. We have a skilled construction team on site who will lead your day and guide volunteers safely through the construction process. Our construction team is accustomed to working with volunteers with various skill levels.
Closed-toe shoes and clothing you are comfortable working in. Crocs, sandals and open-toed shoes are not permitted. Volunteers should be mindful of exposed skin and potential for sunburn, splinters, etc. on an active construction site.
The minimum age to volunteer on a construction site is 16. Both individuals and youth groups are encouraged to lend a helping hand. Volunteers under age 18 must complete a minor liability waiver signed by a parent or guardian prior to volunteering on site.
ReStore
Habitat ReStore is a non-profit home improvement store and donation center that accepts donations of new or nearly new building supplies, furniture and tools from individuals, contractors and businesses. These materials are sold to the public and the proceeds are used by Habitat for Humanity to build more homes in our community.
Volunteers are always needed at ReStore! Here are some common ways you can help:
- Merchandising and creating decorative displays
- DIY projects
- Customer service
- Stocking store shelves
- Unloading trucks
- Pricing inventory
- Organizing the ReStore and the warehouse
- Sales floor associate
Meals
You don’t have to swing a hammer to help! Providing a meal for our volunteers is a great way to involve those who may not be comfortable working on a construction site but would still like to be a part of our builds. We ask meal providers to bring lunch for up to 15 volunteers on a Friday or Saturday build day on our construction site. Whether you choose to order pizza and breadsticks, or make your favorite dish to feed a crowd (pasta, subs, crockpot meals, etc.), volunteering as a meal provider is incredibly helpful as it saves Muncie Habitat the cost of providing a meal for volunteers, and ensures our funds can be focused on our housing and repair programs.
This is a great place for a family to volunteer with us! You must be at least 16 years old to build on our sites, but you can make a meal at home and bring it for lunch even if you have younger children.
TNT (Tuesday & Thursday)
Be part of a core team that supports Muncie Habitat’s mission every Tuesday and/or Thursday from 9am-2:30pm. Our TNT Crew volunteers are integral to our operations! This core volunteer crew is comprised of retirees, students, and others with weekday availability. No skills, tools, or experience necessary – we have everything you need on-hand!
