Below you’ll find answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding our construction site volunteer opportunities.

  1. What is the ideal group size?
    The ideal group size is 10-12 volunteers per build day. 
  2. Do I have to be part of a group to volunteer?
    No! While many of our volunteer teams are a group of friends, co-workers, or church members, we welcome individual volunteers! We will find a great opportunity for you to participate in and meet some new friends.  
  3. What are typical volunteer days and hours?
    • Fridays and Saturdays are typical construction volunteer days.
    • Construction hours are normally from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    • CARDS Crew members work Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays.
  4. Do I have to have construction skills to volunteer on a construction site?
    No! All we ask is a willingness to learn and assist us in achieving our mission of building affordable housing. Our construction team is skilled in home construction and working with volunteers with various skill levels. Come and learn how to build a house!
  5. Do I need to bring anything to the construction site?
    Sturdy shoes and a willingness to work and learn is all you need. Tools are provided but you may bring your own hand tools if you desire.
  6. How old do I need to be to volunteer on a construction site?
    The minimum age to volunteer on a construction site is 16. Both individuals and youth groups are encouraged to lend a helping hand. Each youth under the age of 18 must have a Youth Waiver signed by their parent or guardian granting permission to do volunteer work.
