Dear Muncie Habitat Staff and Friends,

I am writing to provide an update about the measures Greater Muncie, Indiana Habitat for Humanity is taking to protect our staff, volunteers and the people we serve during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. These measures are based on guidance from Habitat for Humanity International plus local, state and national public health authorities. We are continually monitoring the situation, and our approach may change as new guidance is provided.

Our Hoyt Avenue office is now closed to walk-in visitors. Many staff are working virtually, and all staff are available by phone and email.

Our ReStore will remain open at this time. We are limiting customers to 10 at a time, recommending ‘social distancing’ while visiting, and taking numerous cleaning precautions. Our ReStore pick-up service has been modified. We will only be picking-up items left on a driveway or curb. We will not be entering homes.

Given the current circumstances in our area, our build projects will continue, on a limited basis.

  • We have canceled our weekly regular volunteers.
  • Volunteers will not be taken in groups; only individuals.
  • Please reach out to Diann Wellman, volunteer coordinator for any questions dwellman@munciehabitat.org.

We recently made the difficult decision to postpone our Dream Builders Society Breakfast, originally scheduled for April 30, 2020. We are looking into alternative dates and will continue to monitor the situation and update you as new details emerge. If you are looking for ways to support Muncie Habitat at this time, please consider making your pledge payment or a financial gift today via our website at www.munciehabitat.org/donate.

Please know that we are constantly monitoring the situation and will update you as new details emerge. We would ask that you pray for our homeowners, our volunteers, and staff.

As you can imagine, this public health crisis will have many financial implications for families and organizations. Thank you for your continued support as we navigate this crisis together.

In partnership,

Lindsey Arthur
Chief Executive Officer
