Construction Picks Up at Home Sites

Work on Maggie’s home on South Mulberry Street, continues as the volunteer crews focus on interior finishes and painting. The recently donated vinyl flooring, generously given by Halstead Flooring was installed this week. We expect this house to be completed in early September.

Work began on our newest partner family, Brandi’s new home on South Mulberry Street as well. This will be the home of the Mutual Bank Pat Bott’s Memorial Build, and we are eagerly looking forward to kicking off the official build September 11. So far, we have received building permits, excavation is started, a temporary electric pole has been installed, and two trees have been removed.

Building Permits were finally issued this week as well for our other newest member of the Habitat family, Jennifer. Excavation for this home on South Jefferson Street will begin shortly. This is a very special build as well, as this is our Women Build 2020 Home Site! Twelve teams of ten women are raising the funds necessary to complete this build and will begin to work on the home themselves in mid-September!

Not only are entire houses being built, but home repairs continue as well through different programs! A Brush With Kindness campaign is moving quickly! We are grateful for the BSU Baseball team completing five projects with us!

We now have 13 homeowners working in partnership with our Holistic Rehab program. This program is a partnership between PathStone, ecoREHAB, Home Saver and Muncie Habitat and funded by the City of Muncie Community Development. These families will benefit greatly from a new roof and/or furnace.

Thank you all for your help and support making these important builds and repairs happen!
