COVID-19 Update to ReStore Customers

March 24, 2020

Dear Habitat for Humanity ReStore Shopper,

I am writing to provide an update about the measures Greater Muncie, Indiana Habitat for Humanity is taking to protect our staff, volunteers and the people we serve during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Per the Executive Order on March 23, 2020, by Indiana Governor Holcomb, Muncie Habitat ReStore will remain open as an Essential Business-Hardware and Supply Store. Following strict guidelines for ‘social distancing’, cleaning and personal protective equipment for staff, the ReStore will continue to operate. ReStore will remain open as usual, from 9 am to 4 pm Tuesday through Saturday; however, we will not be offering pick-up services for the time being. Also, our restrooms will no longer be available to the public.

We believe it’s in the best interest of our community, employees, and our organization, to remain open. No employees will be required to work, and everyone will be given the opportunity to elect unemployment benefits (while retaining their health insurance). The ReStore is a vital component of our sustainability and helps to fund jobs throughout our organization.
Please know that we are constantly monitoring the situation and will update our plans as new details emerge. Thank you for your continued support as we navigate this public health crisis together.

In partnership,

Lindsey Arthur
Chief Executive Officer

While we continue to move forward, we do ask that if you are experiencing ‘cold or flu-like symptoms’ or have traveled recently to one of the areas designated by the CDC as level 3, or on a cruise ship, you refrain from visiting Habitat ReStore. Similarly, if a member of your household has potentially been exposed to the virus through travel or other means, seek medical guidance and refrain from participating in shopping in our ReStore. Disinfecting wipes, social distancing of up to 6 feet are recommenced while visiting Habitat Restore. Customers may be asked to bag their items when checking out.
