Navient Panel Builds

120 volunteers from Navient and the Academy of Model Aeronautics joined Muncie Habitat for Humanity at Navient’s parking lot for a morning of building homes, community and hope!

Panel Builds are sponsored events where Habitat for Humanity brings the construction site to a company, organization, church or school. Habitat supplies the building materials, tools, safety equipment and professional supervision. The host supplies the space and volunteers.

This year’s Navient Panel Build began at 8 a.m. with three 90 minute volunteer shifts. In this small amount of time,  ALL of the interior and exterior wall panels of a Habitat home!

While some builders has prior volunteer experience, NO CONSTRUCTION SKILLS are needed to participate! The task of the day is hammering nails to put the studs together. Muncie Habitat’ construction team, along with the T&T crew,  instructed and supervised throughout the day – and make sure everyone was having fun!

As the walls are built, they are used to construct a temporary Habitat house – right there in the parking lot! Then it’s deconstructed and the walls are moved to the actual residential location.

Panel Builds promote team building and volunteerism for hosts, sponsors and participants and also provide a great cost savings for Habitat. It’s an exciting way to volunteer with Greater Muncie Habitat for Humanity!
