Muncie Habitat for Humanity serves low-income families in Delaware County with opportunities for homeownership (new and rehab homes) and improved housing solutions (home repairs).

Selected families pay 30% or less of their income on housing costs – including their insurance, taxes, and no-interest, non-profit mortgage payment. Partner families pay a down payment, attend education courses, put in sweat equity hours, and commit to an interest free mortgage. Habitat’s model provides a ‘hand up, not a handout’.

In 2021 we plan on serving 31 local families with our home repair and housing programs. Currently however, Muncie Habitat is facing unprecedented cost increases on our build sites – almost 20 percent across the board. We have been stretched this last year, with a limited number of volunteers, significant price increases, and the need now, more than ever, to give deserving people the opportunity to realize the security of a safe home, while their health and even their jobs continue to recover from the effects of the pandemic.
